Macon, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Crash at Riley Ave & Ridge Ave

Macon, GA (January 21, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal crash that took place at an intersection in Macon on Tuesday, January 18.

Bibb County officials confirmed that the accident happened in the afternoon hours at the intersection of Riley Avenue and Ridge Avenue. A 37-year-old woman was driving her Hyundai Accent in the area when it collided with a Ford Taurus due to reasons that are not yet known. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 37-year-old driver was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on Wednesday, January 19 due to traumatic injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was also hospitalized but is expected to be okay.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. This led to delays in the area for some time.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
