Lithonia, GA (January 24, 2022) – A woman was injured in a dump truck rollover crash that happened at a Lithonia intersection on Monday afternoon, January 24.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Rogers Lake Road and South Deshon Road around 1 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found that a four-door sedan was flipped into a ditch off the side of the road. A dump truck was rolled over on top of it. This led to extensive damages to the involved sedan.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the truck did not have injuries and was walking around at the scene. The woman in the passenger vehicle was trapped and had to be extricated by fire crews. She was flown to a local hospital by medical helicopter. Her condition is not known at this time but police confirmed that she was lucky to be alive.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
